Terri L. Weiss is a partner in the law firm of Marino & Weiss, P.C., located in White Plains, New York. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and is a graduate of Georgetown University (A.B. 1978) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. 1981). Ms. Weiss is also on the Board of Editors of the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the Matrimonial Strategist, and is a member of the Amicus Committee of the New York Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association, and is a member of the Matrimonial Committee of the Westchester Women's Bar Association, as well as the Family Law Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. Ms. Weiss is listed in a variety of Who's Who publications. She practices both in the Supreme and Family Courts, principally in Westchester County, New York.

Ms. Weiss handles significant matrimonial cases, representing both men and women in divorce, support, custody, property division, post-judgment enforcement, modification and relocation actions, and appeals. A prospective client will receive an honest evaluation as to whether the nature and cost of her services are appropriate for that particular individual.

Although most matters are ultimately settled, even informal disclosure is managed so as to provide and obtain complete financial information. This allows the client to make informed decisions and protects the integrity of any settlement arrangement. Ms. Weiss seeks pragmatic and creative solutions, while at the same time ensuring that the client's rights (whether that client is the titled or non-titled spouse) are adequately protected. Ms. Weiss personally handles all her cases. Where necessary, accountants and other legal specialists (including tax, pension, and trusts and estates attorneys) are consulted and/or retained to ensure that clients receive the full gamut of services required to protect their particular interests. Realistic expectations and cost/benefit analyses are regularly examined with the client in order to provide sophisticated, sensible and efficient representation. Due consideration is also made to the economic and emotional toll that the issues relevant to each particular case may exact upon the parties and their children.

Ms. Weiss' prior experience as a litigator in large Manhattan law firms has made her particularly adept at handling complex financial and legal issues, particularly where the marital assets may include, among other things, professional practices, businesses, real estate and securities, or where one or both spouses are high wage earners. She is tenacious in protecting the interests of her clients, whether those interests are purely monetary or whether they concern the welfare of the children. She is a frequent lecturer and has authored a variety of articles in the field of matrimonial law.
