- BANKRUPTCY PETITIONS AND PLEADINGS -

  1. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey operates a Voice Case Information System by telephone that provides docket numbers, filing dates, Chapter filed, whether it is an asset or no asset case, attorney name, address, telephone number, trustee, judge assigned to the case, and status, including date of discharge once entered. It also provides information on adversarial complaints.

    To use this system for all New Jersey bankruptcy filings call 201-645-6045 and be prepared to enter the person's last and first name using a touch-tone telephone. The information is also accessible by case number. There are instructions available once you access the system. There is no charge to use this system.

  2. Copies of documents are available through the copy service Lexplex for a fee at 609-989-0347.

  3. You may go to the Bankruptcy Clerk's Office in the appropriate Federal Court House and obtain copies of petitions and pleadings for a small per page charge. You determine which Court House by the case docket numbers. All numbers containing:
    90-3 are filed in Trenton, New Jersey
    90-0 are filed in Camden, New Jersey
    90-1 are filed in Newark, New Jersey

- DIVORCE JUDGMENTS AND ORDERS -


  1. Records of final judgments, orders and moving pleadings prior to 1989 or 1990 are available from:

    Their physical address is:

    Trenton, New Jersey

    Hours: 8:30 to 4pm (Arrive well before 4 so there is time to research the records you are requesting.)

    Mail requests for searches of not more than a 5 year period require the first and last names of both parties and a fee.

    In person searches are permitted. Allow time for the friendly staff to assist you as some records are on microfiche. These documents are public records. There is a fee for copies.

  2. More recent records (from 1989 or 1990 to the present) are located in the local county where the divorce was granted. The Records Information Center will provide you with the telephone number for the records office for individual counties. There is a fee for copies.
