Divorce is a confusing and complicated
business. Nothing about it is easy, whether you
are the one that’s leaving or the one that is being left. We wrote this
book to make
divorce less difficult. This is not a legal treatise and it cannot substitute
for three years of law school, the bar exam, and expertise that comes from years
of trying cases. But we will explain the law and process of divorce in plain
English for the jurisdiction where we practice law, Michigan.
This book is an invaluable resource for any couple seeking to divorce with
a minimum of cost and conflict and maximum control over all-important decisions.
Sidney
D. Durham, born in
Detroit, Michigan, is a graduate of the Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville,
New Jersey and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where he received
his B.A. degree in Pre-Legal Studies. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree
from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in 1969. His family law
practice has always been in southwest Michigan. He is a member of the American
Bar Association, Family Law Section; State Bar of Michigan, Family Law
Section, and the Kalamazoo County (MI) Bar Association, Family Law Section
and has been its chair. He is the author of An Overview of the Uniform
Child Custody Jurisdiction Act published in the Michigan Family Law Journal,
April, 1995.
