Patrick Lehmon Meriwether - Partner

Educational Background - Patrick Meriwether, originally from Tampa, Florida, attended the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Miami where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Marine Affairs with a minor in General Business. For his Doctor of Jurisprudence (law degree), he attended the University of Florida College of Law. There he was active in the Student Government as a Law College Council Representative and President of the Environmental Law Society. He represented the law school in Moot Court competition and received honors for his Appellate Advocacy. He also was a Member of Phi Delta Phi, an honorary legal fraternity for individuals who represent the highest moral character and ideals.

Publications -During his legal education, he co-authored a legal publication/scientific bulletin on the laws governing the use and impact of agricultural chemicals (Laws Governing Use and Impact of Agricultural Chemicals: An Overview). He also was the principal researcher for a manual written to assist Florida farmers entitled Handbook on Florida Water Regulation. He continued to enhance his writing skills following law school by assisting in the research and drafting of two books for local attorneys.

Professional Experience - Patrick is certified to practice law in both Florida and Georgia. He was admitted to the bars of both Florida and Georgia in 1996. Patrick's employment experience has provided him with knowledge in a variety of legal fields. He has worked for a personal injury firm in Gainesville, Florida. In Georgia, he has worked for two attorneys who both have exclusive, criminal practices. He began his own law office in 1996. From there, he worked for Arthur Andersen, providing tax advice to a variety of large corporations. Patrick, however, missed the satisfaction that comes with running his own practice and assisting small businesses and individuals with their legal needs. In April of 1998, Patrick formed Meriwether & Tharp LLP with Robert L. Tharp.

Areas of Practice - Family Law, Business Law, Contract Litigation.
