Burton F. Metzger, Attorney at Law

Mr. Metzger has been practicing family law in Georgia for eight years, after practicing law in New York. His practice includes divorce, custody, alimony and support, paternity and adoptions. He also has an active practice in Juvenile Court concerning cases involving abused and neglected children as well as defending delinquent children. He is trained as a court appointed advocate for children (CASA) and a member of the advisory board of CASA, sits on the Chatham County Citizens Review Panel, is a member of the Georgia Advocacy Program, and serves as Judge Pro Tem in Juvenile Court. He also handles criminal matters.

Mr. Metzger's practice is almost 100% involved in litigation, and handles uncontested as well as contested matters, including jury trials and appeals. Although based in Chatham County, he handles matters in Effingham, Liberty, Bryan, Screven, Long, Brunswick, Bulloch, Candler, McIntosh and Tattnall counties.

Mr. Metzger is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University School of Law in New York City. He is a former member of the New York Bar and member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the Savannah Bar Association (and its Domestic Relations Subcommittee), Georgia Bar Association (Family Law Section), American Bar Association (Family Law Section), Savannah Trial Lawyers Association and Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
