Divorce
Mediation is a court-approved alternative to divorce litigation.
It is a private and confidential process through which a separating
or divorcing couple, assisted by a trained, experienced mediator,
can arrive at their own decisions concerning what is fair and
reasonable for their particular family situation. Both parties
are strongly encouraged to have their individual attorney review
any agreements.
Divorce
Mediation is both private and confidential. The only document
that leaves the mediator’s office is
the Memorandum of Understanding. All mediator notes are destroyed
once the mediation is completed. Mediation is voluntary and
either party has the right to end the mediation process at any
time.
At
Mediation First, Inc., a licensed attorney with experience in
family law provides mediation services. The
President
of Mediation First, Michelle M. Knight, is a member of the Georgia
Bar Association, the Gwinnett County Bar Association, and a member
of the Association For Conflict Resolution. She also has extensive
training in the latest mediation techniques to help parties promptly
and confidentially settle their cases. Through the mediation
process, parties can resolve their dispute successfully while
remaining in control of the outcome. Mediation
offers an efficient alternative to litigation, and it can significantly
reduce the cost of achieving a resolution.
