Holidays, families, and traditions are all turned topsy turvy upon divorce. If you are feeling lonely because the children are spending the holidays with your "ex," mental health experts recommend:
- Inviting yourself to dinner with friends and family
- Planning a special treat for yourself
- Creating new holiday traditions for you and the children
- Giving the children a stress-free holiday by avoiding a confrontation with your "ex"
- Thinking of a holiday as an entire season, not just one day
- Calling, faxing or e-mailing the children with holiday greetings
