LOL!

When I first moved to Virginia from New York in 1990, we had gotten lost in this little town, so we stopped at a convenience store to ask for directions, and as soon as I opened my mouth, he said "y'eh I cin tell ya'll ain't from 'round here"

SO he proceeded to tell me directions, i wasn't far from where we were headed, but his directions were like, "y'all jus' go down that tree a yonder", and i had to stop him in the middle there, and ask with my stupidity, "How far is a yonder?" LOL

I didn't know it was like a saying there lol

That's sounds like my grandpa taking notes on how to spell "u-ie" when getting directions and the guy said "You just drive your ca'h down the'ah and take a u-ie."

Since there ain't no West by God Virgineeeans on this here board, or anywhere a yonder....

LOL! We may as well make this our own personal stomping ground for a bit.

So what part of OH? I was born and raised a bit in Columbus myself, and my bro lives in Southpoint. But we were basically raised for too many years in West Virginia that we consider ourselves hillbillies moreso than buckeyes. I've been in NH since 1997 and don't even know if they have a name for themselves here. I was in NC for a year, and I know they're the tarheels and in VA with the cavaliers for a year. I don't think NH has a name. They're too busy living free or dying up he'ah.

I'm actually gonna be back in WV for a week the first week of September. Met a home girl up here in Bangor, ME during a Stephen King Green Mile meeting weekend before last. She and I will probably get together again while I'm down there.

It's a world of laughter a world of tears
It's a world of hope and a world of fears
There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

Everybody!

It's a small world..... :p

OoOooo I love Stephen King! have you met him?

I'm actually from New York, and moved to Virginia in 1990, and met hubby there, we moved back to his hometown of Columbus since his brother got him a real good job, with benefits, etc, and I lived in Columbus for a year, before we bought this property here in Middleport, Ohio, (Southeast..is around the Pomeroy/Gallipolis area).and right across the bridge from us, over the Ohio River, just 13 miles away is Point Pleasant (OoOoOoOo... Mothman lol)

NH seems like a beautiful state..(I been wondering also when someone from WV was going to come to this board and yell at us for implying they talk "a lil fun-nay" lol

Nope, haven't met the King. Hubby sold him a word processor once. LOL All I got was my pic taken in front of his house a few dozen times.

A lot of my family is from Columbus. My aunt retired from Schottensteins there and then moved out of the state. Another aunt and uncle sold a car dealership they had. You ever see Cars2NV and Denny Motors out on Morse Road? Then they moved to FL. So no one left in Columbus but one cousin. Got an aunt in Lancaster and then my bro, but everyone else has kinda scattered across the states now. One cous in AL, an aunt in CA/IL (depending on which business she's running at the time LOL), a few in FL, a few in NC, one in SC. Kinda all over the road.

NH isn't really much different than WV in looks of the state...all mountains, lotsa leaves. The big difference here though is that you don't see a lot of cars up on cinderblocks in people's front yards. LOL!

LOL @ ya pic in front of his house..I read most of his books, I"m a big horror fan

I don't know Morse rd well, I lived off I think it was called Harrisburg Pike? almost near Grove City when we first moved here, i told hubby, if i wanted to live in the city, I would have moved back to New York, i wanted to be out of the city, but it was just a temporary spot till we were able to save once he statrted his job, and all..

my hubby is from Galloway.. his brother and father still live there.. his dad is off West Broad street somewhere..I haven't been back to Columbus since we moved, my hubby works there at Decker Construction, (Highway Construction) its a far drive from us, so he stays at his dads a few days a week then comes home thurs-Sunday, he does get laid off from dec-april though, when it's too cold to do the roads.., (we are on unemployment at that time), but he does like his job. and sometimes they are called back in March.

my family is also scattered, mostly in New York though some have moved to New Jersey (wow big move lol).. Georgia, Virginia, and California.

since living just 10 minutes away from West Virginia, its not much different here either, though we do have a few of those folks who like putting junk cars in their front yards.. dunno why, they just sit there and sit there lol..its actually a beautiful state, and I guess you get certain kind of folks everywhere.. some a lil mo'e redneck then o'thirs LOL

I haven't been in Columbus myself since 1983. Went to Lancaster for the family reunion every year until I moved up here. Just barely missed this years. They have it the last Sunday in August, and I'll be there on 9/2. Sometimes that last Sunday coincides with the first of September, but not this year. :(

Lancaster is about 1 1/2 hour from me, we go to the mall there quite abit, hubby drives through there on his way to work back and forth.. the traffic is so bad there now, its unbearable.. there's lots of road work being done now where they be making an extra way to get down 33...

hubby dreads driving on that main road in Lancaster during working hours and weekends..during christmas season, it was worse, of course, but cant wait for that new road to be built there.

It's been building up. Used to not even BE a mall. Then we go to a reunion one year and they have a mall, then the following year and they've added about a half dozen hotels. Good for us though, cause when the Holiday Inn was just too annoyning (toilet was broken, etc.), we went across the street and booked into the Amerihost. Since all they had left were junior suites, I had to put up with an entire weekend of nothing but a balcony overlooking the indoor pool and our own private hottub in the room. ::sigh::
