Situation, she filed last year, had temporary motion filed and judgement against me, I had to move out of house, pay her $1244 month temp spousal support as well as maintain car insurance, health and dental on her, and pay her credit cards and both mortgages. She lives in house, I pay both mortgages and was in process of fixing up house before I had to go to Japan for 6 months. She allowed son and family to move in, they caused problems so she kicked them out, house is now worse than when I left it. Son had installed laminate in living room but tore 1/2 of it up saying it was crooked and then left it like that. They have a bunch of belongings in the garage. I live with my youngest son in a rental house. Now she wants to move out as soon as she gets job. I just want to sell the house and pay off the mortgages, neither of us care if we make any money on the place but in the condition it is in, I don't see getting what I want and with all the financial obligations it is hard to come up with money to fix the place up. It also smells because of her dog and its messes. Lawyer said divorce can't be finalized until house sells, which could be 1-3 or more years. So am I stuck, not being able to move on with my life??? Even though she can go on with hers?? She has no intention of marrying again or even interested in a relationship, whereas I am. I know it is a bad situation but figured someone may have some advice here, thanks.

If you are willing to move on, take a loss on the house. I don't see why it can't be sold. It's a weird advice, divorce can still be finalized with an order of what to do with the house and how much (%) each will share if any profit/lost.

"Lawyer said divorce can't be finalized until house sells, which could be 1-3 or more years."

Why is this? Is the lawyer expecting payment from the sale of the house and simply stating the divorce papers won't be submitted for finalization until he receives the payment?
