I currently share 50% physical and legal custody and want to move out of state. What is the process? Is it possible the child could go with me? If not, what would my parenting time be? Also, when can a child tell the courts where he wants to live?

"What is the process?"
Does your order have a specific restriction?

"Is it possible the child could go with me?"
It's possible, but turn it around for a minute. If the other parent wanted to move out of state, and you would have your parenting time reduced by someone else's decision, how would you feel about that?

"If not, what would my parenting time be?"
Can't help you much with this one. Do some web searching and see if you can find what a standard order is in MI for a parent who lives several hundred miles away. One of the guys I work with has a MI order, and he sees his kid like one weekend a month, most of the summer, and I think every spring break.

"Also, when can a child tell the courts where he wants to live?"
Most states I've seen are about 12. I'm not sure about MI specifically. Keep in mind that even if the child expresses a preference, it's not automatic, especially if you're talking about moving the kid away. Consider also what you're asking the kid to do: "Okay child, now choose between your parents."
