Who should I start with? There are many choices and I can't afford $100 a pop to talk to them all.

You shouldn't have to. Some will charge you a fee for a consultation, but many won't.
www.lawyerratingz.com is a site where clients can rate attorneys.
www.martindale.com is a peer rating site.
I don't personally endorse either one, but they might give you some place to start.
