How does property get divided? Is it all just 50/50? What about what was yours before the marriage? Been married 7yrs +.

In Wisconsin, it's supposed to be 50/50. Everything that each partner brought into the marriage becomes joint property, with an exception for gifts given specifically to one person. For financial purposes, marriage is a crappy deal for the one who was richer... because they're not richer any more.

If you get a monetary gift and put it into a joint account (instead of a separate account in only your name) then it will probably be considered joint property. If the gift is a vehicle and you register it in both your names, it's probably going to be considered as joint property.

You get the idea. If you deliberately place your gift under both your names, then you are implicitly making it joint property.
