ok.... so here's my story... my "wife" and I just got married in Jamaica on 8/5/2007. On 8/12/2007 she tells me she "doesn't want to be married" and that she only married me because she was pregnant and because she wanted full custody of her other son. Suddenly, her ex is single again and now she says she's leaving me to be single. She wants to abort the baby (she keeps saying she's not ready for another kid) and she has decided custody of her other son is not for her.
All of this supposedly has been going through her head for weeks/months but of course she let me drop $7k on a Jamaican wedding, $6k on rings, etc... and all this while I thought everything was awesome.
So, the short question... we got married in Jamaica... we don't have a marriage certificate... it will be mailed in 3 to 4 months... will the marriage be observed in the US if we just "ignore" the Jamaican wedding? I.e. if we don't register the wedding here... are we married legally?
Second, if not... do I have grounds for an annullment?
What can I do? I've tried to talk to her and talk her out of the abortion and everything but her mind is made up... this is all one FREAKiING week from the wedding... it's insane!
I just don't know what to do. I don't want to go through complicated divorce procedures for this if I can get it annulled or if we can just not observe the jamaica paperwork.
I already checked and am waiting to hear from Jamaica as to if it's possible to "cancel" teh paperwork after it was submitted by Sandals resort.
I am falling apart.
