My ex has filed contempt charges aginist me for not providing transportation half way to NC and for supposedly deny his visitation this past christmas. My ex had him in NC all christmas break up till a day before school started in 2005. This past christmas I had him all break. More to the story but I want to know if anybody has been court ordered to drive out of state. We were married in MD, son was born in MD and never been a resident of NC. I can't see how I should bare the expense of travel? He has paid CS on and off. He has gone to jail for not paying. But lately he pays most of the time but tends to be under the amount $30 to $100 each month. Does anyone know what the average child support is? I know its based on salary but I know he lies about his income? Any adice here in maryland? PLease help anyone.

It sounds like you are to provide transportation (although I don't know why if he moved away), if he is up to date with his child support...which he isn't. Since you have to go to court and defend yourself, what does your attorney say? If you don't have one, you will want to get one.

no money for a lawyer, plus not a lot of time b/c the contempt charge was filled as a show cause order?? I wrote in a written statement already but I have to appear next week. My ex husband had the papers sent to a old address which they could not locate me until just a week or 2 ago. If I never got the papers I would have had a bench warrent on me for not appearing said the office that finally found me. He had my new address and his lawyers sent me papers before at my newest address. I do not beleive I am wrong and have come in between my son and his dad. Even though I have only the truth as I see it to give when I go to court he has a lawyer paid for and I am worried that b/c I do not have advice of a lawyer I will end getting slammed in court. Any legal adive as to the how the process works when I show up next week.

My ex filed the same thing on me. If you and child reside in MDjurisdiction is there. In my case there is a form to fill out and file with the court replying to family access.(Basically denying it). In my case the case was thrown out of court because of lack of jurisdiction. Is your case in Md. or NC.?If it is filed in NC see if their is a form you can fax to the court clerk responding to the motion. I did.and won. When the move first took place I was ordered to transport children all the way back to the state of the ncp(I moved with the children with court permission) But after 6months they were legal residents of the state we now live in. He (ncp) has to file everything here now.He leaves us alone now.Doesn't wan to come here to fight.
