I was divorced in 2001. My divorce decree says that my ex should pay me alimony for a period of 24 months. No other clauses, concerning marriage or other reasonse for release or ties to MD law are included. Just a simple statement of how much and how long he should pay.

My ex paid me for 12 months. Then, I got married so he decided I shouldn't get alimony anymore so he stopped paying.

Can he do that?

A close friend also recieved alimony for 2 years, her lawyer told her not to get married or live together until the last payment was recieved. She resides in Maryland.
