A year ago I settled with the mother of my daughter to pay support. Within this agreement was an amount for past years (there had been no contact between us for 9&1/2 years previous). The agreement was entered via court and the payments have been payroll deducted without a single miss since the order. Here's the thing, the CSEA (being requested by the mother for help from the get go) has taken action of enforcement against me for payments in arrears. There are no payments in arrears, however, they (CSEA) consider any amount agreed upon for past years support to be automatically in arrears. The enforcement includes a Federal TaX Offset put in place as well as a report going to the Credit Bureaus and finally one to the STATE Department to deny and/or revoke a Passport. The big issue is the TAX OFFSET. I have not been in arrears since the payments started and I would like to know if anyone has experienced this and if there is any way except pleading with the mother (which did not work) to reverse this.
