I am looking for information on how one figures out the maintenance figure for spousal support. I know there are alot of factors that goes into it, but is there a formula that puts everything together to get a good ball park number????

I don't know the exact formula, but when my husband got divorced, he had to pay spousal support, current child support, and back child support (because he was contesting a few things in the divorce). His checks were being garnished by 65%, which is the most the state can take. Since he was still behind on CS, the state took his tax return, too. I'm not sure if that helps or not! Best of luck!

there is no set formula, like there is for CS. some states like Colorado have a temporary maintenance formula, that might give you some ideas. check out the colorado state website. some states use a general rule of thumb of 1/3 of the difference between the two spouses' gross incomes. I know in MA, when alimony and CS are to be awarded and there is great disparity in income between the CP and NCP, courts usual award between 30% and 40% of the NCP's income (to include CS and alimony).
