We've been married 11 years and have two kids. My wife wants to take them out of New Hampshire, 1,500 miles west to our "home" state as soon as school is out, without me. We have not lived there in 10 years. I am working with my employer to get relocated back, so we can settle it there, but relocation back could take more time.

In the best interest of my family, I feel I need to stay with my current employer to provide for my kids the best I can. My wife insists she is going as soon as school is out. However, she has no specific plan from what I can tell, she just says she will figure it out. I am concerned for my kids future, the lack of a plan and my ability to support two households when credit card bills, etc. start coming. And of course, I don't want to lose my kids.

I have been told I can ask the court to appoint a guardian ad litem who would then make a recommendation to the court and the process could take 9 to 12 months. She is talking on leaving two months from now. Is she obligated to stay once the guardian ad litem process has been started? What are my chances of this actually working? I have been told this is very difficult to accomplish in New Hampshire. Is there any thing else I can do legally to stop her?

Do you have an attorney? You need one right away to prevent the move.
