My husband is Air Force. If we get divorced, what are the laws regarding custody. Can I be forced to move wherever they send him to retain custody (full or partial) of my daughter? What if I can't afford to follow? I've been scared to file for the divorce because of this. I don't want him to be able to take her far away if I can't follow. Please help.

Each state has its own laws about divorce. Normally one parent or the other is NOT allowed to leave the state and take the children with him or her unless a judge names that parent as primary custodial parent. Have you talked to a lawyer about this? By the way, I'm a former Montanan whose wife cheated with an airman and then divorced me to be w/ her boyfriend. I'm writing a book about adultery in the military and trying to find others who have similarly been victims of this. I understand adultery in the military is far more common that most folks would ever believe.
